Huntersville is a growing town located in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It is positioned south of Lake Norman and north of Interstate 485 which surrounds Charlotte, one of the largest cities in North Carolina. Huntersville is one of the largest towns in Mecklenburg County. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were almost 60,000 people living in the town in 2016. The town has more than doubled in size since 2000 and has become the 17th largest municipality in North Carolina.

Original inhabitants of the area surrounding Huntersville were Native American Indians. Eventually, European settlers began moving into the area and constructed railways and businesses. Robert Boston Hunter was a major landowner and cotton farmer who conducted a lot of business in the area. The town is named in honor of Robert Hunter. The name of the town was changed from Craighead to Huntersville and in 1873 the community was officially incorporated.

Today, Huntersville is a growing community that is home to many attractions and facilities.
